Laura asked:

Where does it say in the bible that homosexuality is a bad thing?

Tim Staples replied:

"... You want to go to Romans chapter 1 ... verse 24 and following it says, 'therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshipped and served the creature rather than the creator who is blessed forever. Amen. For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions, their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural. And the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another. Men committing shameless acts with men, and receiving in their own persons the due penalty for their error. And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a base mind and to improper conduct.'

So there what you have is a description of homosexual acts as gravely disordered and sinful ... go to texts like first Corinthians 6, verses 9 through 11 where Saint Paul says, 'do you not know the unrighteous will not inherit the kindgom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither immoral nor idolators nor adulterers nor homsexuals, nor thieves, nor greedy ... nor revilers, nor robbers will inherit the kingdom of God.'

... First Timothy chapter 1 verse 10, and you might want to back up to verse 8, because here Paul says, 'now we know that the law's good if anyone uses it lawfully understanding this. The law is not laid down for the just but for lawless, and the disobedient, for the ungodly, sinners, for the unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for man slayers, immoral persons, sodomites.' ... and he lists a whole bunch of other sins. Sodomites of course is homosexuals ... I want to emphasize here this is homosexual acts that are being condemned, not an individual that may have a tendency because nowhere in the bible is anyone condemned for a tendency to sin, because we'd all be condemend. It is as James chapter 1 verse 15 says, 'lust when it is conceived in the heart brings forth sin and sin brings forth death.'"
